Year 3-6 Sustainability

This year the Year 3-6 students have designed and developed sustainable ways to garden & reduce waste in the school.

The students have been involved in a range of stages of this project including:

• Researching
• Developing a budget for their product/s
• Creating a presentation for the Shark Tank Investment Team (STIT)
• Presenting to the Shark Tank Investment Team (STIT)
• Constructing their project (if it is approved by STIT)

We have been able to access grants to support this project including a grant from WasteSorted Schools to support the development of a worm farm and paper recycling program. We also were successful in obtaining funding from the Woolworths Junior Landcare grants for the purchasing of the greenhouse and resources to grow our own seeds/seedlings.

We held a busy bee with many of our parents engaging with the activities with the students to build their projects. This included:

• A greenhouse
• A vertical garden
• A healthy compost system
• A paper and cardboard recycling system
• A hydroponic garden system
